What a cookie is here

A cookie is a small file a site stores on your device. Some sites also use local storage and session storage, which do the same job with different plumbing. This page covers all three, because what matters is what is stored, not the technical name.

What this site actually sets

Analytics, which only run if you say yes

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and where they arrived from. It is the only thing on this site that needs your permission, which is why you were asked on your first visit. If you have not accepted, none of the cookies below exist on your device:

These are not essential. The site works perfectly without them. They exist so we know which pages are worth improving. Declining costs you nothing and hides nothing from you.

Remembering what you chose

Whichever way you answer, we store the answer itself so we stop asking. This is browser storage rather than a cookie, and it is the one thing kept regardless of your choice, because the alternative is asking you the same question on every page.

The chat assistant, which is functional

The chat widget does not use cookies. It uses your browser's local storage and session storage to remember your conversation while you are on the site, so your messages do not vanish when you move between pages:

These are only created if you open the chat.

What we do not set

No advertising cookies. No cross site tracking pixels. We do not sell or share what we collect with anyone for their own marketing.

Changing your mind

You can change your answer at any time, and it takes one click. It is deliberately no harder to withdraw permission than it was to give it.

Open cookie settings and choose again. The same link sits in the footer of every page on this site.

If you switch from accept to reject, we stop analytics and delete the analytics cookies already on your device. You do not have to go and clean up after us.

You can also stop it from outside the site entirely:

• Install the Google Analytics opt out browser add on, which blocks it on every site including this one.
• Turn on your browser's tracking prevention. Safari, Firefox and Brave block this kind of script by default.
• Block or delete cookies for alorny.cloud in your browser settings. Every major browser lets you do this per site.

Blocking analytics does not break anything on this site.

Clearing what is already stored

Clearing site data for alorny.cloud in your browser removes both the analytics cookies and anything the chat assistant stored. In Chrome and Edge that is under Settings, Privacy and security, Third party cookies, See all site data. In Safari it is Settings, Privacy, Manage website data. In Firefox it is Settings, Privacy and Security, Cookies and Site Data.
